Speaker 0 00:00:00 Hi guys, this's Steve from CTA I to share my five bullet Friday. This is take two because I was a minute in. I'm a postman. Just walked in, I got pick. Um, so number one over my five bullets for the week is, there's two types of people in your life. I've come across this concept a few years ago in a different context, more recently, um, two years ago in my daughter's primary school. And really, you've got two types of people. You've got, uh, radiators, people that make you feel more energized, happier, motivated, inspired, you know, just nice to be around. You just enjoy their company. You're putting in a better mood and drainers, and you, the, the negativity spreads, the pessimistic, the glass is half empty. Um, they're just people you don't really want in your life. And whether it's work, whether it's, um, family, friends, I would encourage you to limit the amount of time you spend for those type of people in seat positive influences in your life. Speaker 0 00:00:59 You can also get mentors and, and online resources, but, uh, I think it applies across the host spectrum of everybody you interact with. The next one is the concept of above the line thinking or alled. Um, so above the line is o a r. That's the all an alled. And o a R stands for, O stands for ownership. Um, so taking ownership of something. Uh, the A stands for accountability. The R stands for responsibility. So that's someone is looking at themselves, they looking inwards. What could I have done differently? How can I impact this situation? What are the solutions I can come up with? Below the line is blame, excuses and denial. Um, and what you'll find is in a team, the people struggling and normally below the line with certain things in, in, in, um, in their job. So, um, it, it, I mean, it is hard to move above the line. Speaker 0 00:01:54 Um, but you know, it's one of our core values and if we're struggling with someone, we always look at their attitude. So it is an attitude. It's someone who's got, can-do attitude and what could they do about the situation? Even if it's not your fault as a team leader or a manager or a business owner, you can always still look at yourself. I still look at myself and say, what could I have done differently in this situation? Um, and you can also find resource online to do with or bad. And the next one is the no bypass. I'm just looking at my computer, by the way, the no bypass policy. So really quickly, if you've got three people who communicate in, uh, in a team, there's three communication lines. Uh, essentially if you've got, have a look at the numbers, if you've got nine, if you've got eight people communicating, there's 28 communication lines. If you've got 14 people communicating, there's 91 communication lines. So the idea is don't get people involved, the things they don't need to get involved in. Obviously we want to be nice to people, we want to build relationships. Um, Speaker 1 00:02:59 You know, you would, we're, we're a team essentially, but you don't wanna drag in people into conversations they don't need to be involved in. You need clear reporting lines, clear responsibility and accountability. Who needs to deal with what? Because you just make the communication way too complex. It's not efficient. You create all these triangles, all this wasted energy. Um, you can find a nice little diagram. Uh, it's developing leaders, six keys to identify and develop new leaders. It gives you a really good visual of all the different communication lines. As your team expands, you have too many people sort of interacting with each other. Um, the next one, which links into that I think is kiss. Keep it simple, stupid. So, um, some of the most intelligent creative people in the world keep things stupid. You know, Steve Jobs comes to mind if you look at Apple. Speaker 1 00:03:46 He didn't make his products more complicated for users. He made it simpler. Everything was about making it simpler. Making it something simple is an art. You know, it's a scale. Um, uh, I always, I think of, um, I dunno who quoted it, but someone wrote it is gone back hundreds of years ago, I think. Um, it was, I, they wrote a really long letter to someone and said, I would've wrote you a shorter letter, but I didn't have time. So it's a skill to be able to condense things, summarize it, take away the key action points. Um, and I would just, I would just ask yourself, in your business and your life, where could you make things a bit simpler? It's really good to ask us as that question. The next one is Kaizen philosophy built from Toyota. I think it's around the fifties, sixties, that sort of time. Speaker 1 00:04:31 And it's the idea of continuous improvement. You know, if you are making something a little bit better, 1% better every week at the end of the year, that's exponential growth, absolutely can transform your business if you add a 1% improvement, all these different areas of your business. Um, so it's a big value of ours because if you are not growing, if you are not on board with positive change in our business, you are going to struggle. Um, so we believe in the kaizen sort of philosophy. So hopefully that's useful. Guys. Gimme a shout if you've got any questions. Cheers.
